June 27, 2012: The Day the World Ended

Our little temper tantrum throwing baby girl, kissed a boy on the playground. Stephen thought it was funny, I wanted to cry. Lol.

In other news, Ian is going to be an astronaut! He wants to take a shuttle ride with daddy into outer space. The kid has high hopes.

Have you seen these hilarious ecarss? They're really funny. My teachers enjoyed that one!!

Mother's Day

We have been thinking that Mother's Day is quickly approaching, Sunday, May 13, 2012, for those of you that are wondering the date. We have discussed doing a special, which we are, but wanted to make it a little bit different than usual. What do we want for Mother's Day? Someone should nudge Clynt and Stephen... just sayin'. Jewelry! More specifically, jewelry with our babies on it! You want one too, right, right?!

Mother's Day Pendants
Aren't they just precious? You  may pick your heart up from the floor. With this year's Mother's Day special, we're going to include a 15/16"square pendant, something we don't usually offer. It is perfect to wear on a necklace. Okay, are you ready to see the special now?

That's right! Our Mother's Day Special ($300) is a session with a CD of high resolution images (that you can print), a 15/16" square pendant with an image on it for mom, 2 5x7s (great for grandmas!!), and 20% off of prints and products from our catalog. And just in case you're wondering, yes, you can buy it as a gift. Please click on the "Contact Us" tab above or email us at info@picturemechic.com. This Special is available in both Austin and Houston, TX, and the surrounding areas. Please specify which location you're interested in.

Lifestyle Photography

There are many different types of photography; portraiture, macro, photojournalism, lifestyle, and so many more! We generally classify our style as "Lifestyle," though, I think we mix in some portraiture and photojournalism too depending on the scenario. Maybe we're Photolifeaiture Photographers? Let's break it down for you. And yes, we totally use Wikipedia as our source.

Lifestyle Photography
"...a style of photography which aims to portray real-life situations in a controlled setting." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifestyle_photography)
This is what we do with our family, maternity, senior, etc sessions. These sessions take place in natural settings (parks, playgrounds, fields, downtown, beach, inside of your home, etc). Natural lighting is used in nearly all situations (with some exceptions).

Lifestyle photography is unique. In this image, a family is at the park, having a great time. It's amazing for capturing real expressions. Even if a different family was photographed in this same location, it would be a different experience and provide new images.

Portrait Photography
"...a photography of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait_photography)
We are portraiture photographers because we capture the emotions of our subjects.

Don't you just love that smile on his face? We are always taking portraits of families, kids, babies, couples, all kinds of people. This particular image captures Garrett's emotions well.

Photojournalism
"...a particular form of journalism that creates images in order to tell a news story." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photojournalism)
Photojournalism is most used for us when we shoot events and weddings.

In our weddings, we don't stage and pose photos, we simply photograph behind the scenes the entire time. We tell a love story.

Do you see how these photography styles all overlap? To make it simple, we just say Lifestyle because it's the broadest term. And, in our opinion, it can incorporate portraiture and photojournalism. So, there you have it. Lifestyle photography is what we do and what we love.
